It may seem like a silly question today, but I can assure you this was the talk around the league back then. Kobe silenced all doubters and opened eyes around the league when he went on this 9-game barrage of scoring 40+ points in every matchup. After this 18 day stretch, people had changed their opinions on Kobe. He had leveled himself up and evolved into a different player. This was no longer "the 2nd option". He was the Franchise. This all took place in the 2003 era of NBA defenses where it was much harder to score in. That makes it all the more impressive.
